“Have you ever been in Love?” – The Robot Opener

tinder-movie-hed-2015This is really sneaky and – for some – annoying as hell.

Peeps on Tinder at the SXSW festival this weekend had been matched with a beautiful 25-year-old hottie named Ava.

After matching, the Tinder conversation would go something like this.

Tinder conversationBut when you open up Ava’s Instagram, it becomes clear that this conversation would not end up with sexy time.

Right now there is 1 photo and a video, each marketing Ex Machina, a new sci-fi film that is premiering Saturday night throughout Austin. The hyperlink in your the bio went to the film’s website.

AND it turns out the girl inside the photos is Swedish actress Alicia Vikander, who plays a man-made intelligence in the movie.

It’s a rather brilliant way of using marketing. The questions from Ava is a bit odd for a human and fits perfectly with our idea of a interaction with an AI.

However it’s in addition quite invasive, and some will call it spammy.

It reminds me a bit of the Tinder porn bots that are roaming around. But since this is really innovative and fits perfectly with the concept of the movie I will give them a pass.

I’m probably also biased just because I love any kind of AI-movie and really looking forward to watching this one as well.

Regarding our bro in the Tinder conversation, he was a bit upset since he could sense the fishy smell in the air after the instagram invite. He was a trooper however and found the whole thing impressively deceptive but said “It toyed with my emotions SO hard”.
